Item Description
From the same set as lot #782. Card front reads "Almendares B.B.C. Furhd-Pitcher". Name is misspelled on the card front. A southpaw off a Missouri farm, Oscar Fuhr pitched big-league ball for parts of two seasons and all of a third in the majors, 1921 with the Chicago Cubs and 1924-25 with the Boston Red Sox. The Cubs finished seventh and his Red Sox teams finished seventh and eighth. Fuhr was 0-0 with Chicago and 3-12 with Boston. He played for Almendares of the Cuban league in the 1923-24 season and went 5-7 in 18 games, 9 of those being complete games which led the league.
