Item Description
10x14.5" thick artboard has mixed media original art by prolific and renowned Spanish Marvel Comics cover artist Rafael López Espí. Cover is for the Spanish Conan El Barbaro V2 #26, which reprints US Conan The Barbarian #86 (featuring Belit and Zula) and was published in Spain by Mundi, Marvel Comics Group, c. 1978. Artboard has been hand-painted from edge to edge w/art showing Conan and Zula vs The Devourer Of The Dead, a reinterpretation based on the US cover to issue #86 by John Buscema and Ernie Chan. Art area measures 10x14.5". Back of artboard has handwritten "Conan 26" at top in black felt tip pen and three tape spots on right edge. Artboard has some minor corner tip wear but o/w art remains bright and clean. Exc. A wonderful example from the era when Espí's art dominated covers of Spanish Marvel comic books, featuring one of Marvel's most popular characters. Superb and dynamic cover art. Comes w/reading copy of the Spanish comic this cover art was created for.
