Item Description
10x14.5" thick artboard has mixed media original art by prolific and renowned Spanish Marvel Comics cover artist Rafael López Espí. Cover is for the Spanish El Hombre De Hierro (Iron Man) y Dan Denfensor V2 #40, which reprints US Iron Man issues #97 and #98 (featuring Guardian and Sun-Fire) with back-up story from Daredevil #144 (featuring Man-Bull) and was published in Spain by Mundi, Marvel Comics Group, c. 1977. Artboard has been hand-painted from edge to edge w/art showing an original composition based on an art panel from the US issue #97 by Perlin and Tuska. Original US cover was by Wilson and Adkins. Art area measures 10x14.5" w/image edge to edge. Back of artboard has handwritten "H. Marvel 40" and four pieces of tape on right edge holding in place a tissue paper overlay w/text layout. Artboard has some minor corner tip wear but o/w art remains bright, clean and Exc. A wonderful example from the era when Espí's art dominated covers of Spanish Marvel comic books, featuring one of Marvel's most popular characters. Superb and dynamic cover art. Comes w/reading copy of the Spanish comic this cover art was created for.
