Item Description
27x31" frame contains double-matted oil on board original art depicting woman in ornate bikini reclining on the back of a large scorpion. Art is by Peruvian artist Boris Vallejo, best known for his hyper-representational paintings, which have appeared on the covers of numerous sci-fi and fantasy paperbacks and are featured in a series of best-selling calendars. Subjects of his paintings are typically sword and sorcery gods, monsters, and well-muscled male and female barbarians engaged in battle. This piece (representing the Zodiac astrological sign) was featured as the cover as well as a calendar page within the 1988 Boris Vallejo Fantasy Zodiac calendar, published by Workman Publishing in 1988. Vallejo has signed at lower right, below scorpion's large claw. Exc. and ready for display as framed under Plexiglas. Comes w/trading card featuring same art.
