27x31" frame contains double-matted oil on board original art depicting woman in ornate bikini reclining on the back of a large scorpion. Art is by Peruvian artist Boris Vallejo, best known for his hyper-representational paintings, which have appeared on the covers of numerous sci-fi and fantasy paperbacks and are featured in a series of best-selling calendars. Subjects of his paintings are typically sword and sorcery gods, monsters, and well-muscled male and female barbarians engaged in battle. This piece (representing the Zodiac astrological sign) was featured as the cover as well as a calendar page within the 1988 Boris Vallejo Fantasy Zodiac calendar, published by Workman Publishing in 1988.
