Item Description
20x29" promotional poster featuring art by Howard Chaykin. Poster was printed in the summer of 1976, to be sold at San Diego Comic-Con and WorldCon in Kansas City. Chaykin, a Marvel comics artist (who would later go on to provide art for Marvel's early Star Wars comic books), produced the artwork utilizing a handful of stills and paintings by concept artist Ralph McQuarrie, who also designed the early "Star Wars" logo seen at lower right. Poster features great scene showing Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo and Obi-Wan Kenobi, w/large Darth Vader image looming over them. The Death Star can be seen in bkg. and foreground features X-Wings, Y-Wings and TIE Fighters. Rare, w/only about a thousand posters printed, and surviving examples rarely come up for sale. Poster has been rolled and shows some lt. handling wear/aging and is VF/Exc.
