Item Description
From same rare set as lot #888. Philadelphia Athletics. He played for the team from 1901 to 1914. This is a key button in the set, one of three National Baseball Hall Of Fame Members (along with Baker and Collins, also offered this auction). He was inducted in 1945. Plank was the first left-handed pitcher to win 200 games and then 300 games, and now ranks third in all-time wins among left-handers with 326 career victories (eleventh all-time) and first all-time in career shutouts by a left-handed pitcher with 66. A three-time World Series champ with the A's. Surface has three pinpoint cello breaks, one in the field at 3 o'clock and two affecting portrait.
