Item Description
3.25x5.5" postcard has been postally issued w/Jan. 30, 1937 air mail postmark. Postcard has handwritten black ink sender name/address on provided spot w/handwritten message on back addressed to famed aviator Amelia Earhart (1897-1937/39), best-known for being the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, setting many other records along the way. She is also remembered for her mysterious 1937 disappearance over the Pacific Ocean during an attempt at becoming the first woman to complete a circumnavigational flight of the globe. Note reads in part - "Dear Miss Earhart, Would You Kindly Sign This Card For Me. I Sure Would Like Your Autograph For My Collection. Thanking You In Advance & Good Luck. Sincerely, R.P. French." Note is dated Jan. 25, 1937, less than six months before her disappearance. Earhart honored her fan's request, as front bears her signature in black ink. Postcard has even aging and shows scattered margin wear and corner foxing. Fine overall, but Earhart's signature still displays boldly. Unique piece signed signed by an aviation legend. Comes w/Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
