Item Description
13" tall doll w/movable composition head, arms and legs and flannel/knit uniform w/"Dodgers" name on front and "42" jersey number on back. Doll wears leatherette shoes. Allied-Brand Doll Mfg., c. 1950. Doll has lt. crazing to composition pieces, w/1/8x.5" chip to bottom edge on back of neck, but all is much less than normally seen and front of head/face retain a very nice display. Blue flannel has obvious fade and is missing Brooklyn "B" emblem. "Dodgers" name on chest has a few tiny breaks in lettering and both this and "42" jersey number have aged and uniform exhibits lt. even aging w/some wear to edges of shoes. Doll stands well for display. Fine overall. Doll comes w/original die-cut cardboard tag, which is in the shape of a catcher's mitt w/baseball and bat; center has bluetone photo image of Robinson above "The Jackie Robinson Doll" text. Back of tag features back of glove design and lists name of Brooklyn, NY-based Allied-Grand Doll Mfg. Co, Inc. Tag shows some lt. scattered wear w/heavy creases to knob and tip of die-cut baseball bat. Fine overall. Wonderfully designed tag. Rare. This doll represents one of the best and most sought after of all Jackie Robinson merchandise items. A key piece for any collection featuring this National Baseball HOF member.
