Item Description
4x6x7" tall. Plaster figure w/text on front of base. Satirical figure inspired by July 2, 1884 Puck magazine cover which depicts a heavily tattooed Blaine wearing swim trunks seated on wood plank next to dog depicted as Logan. The cartoon features a can w/text "Pro-slavery" tied to dog's tail and is titled "Me And Jack." Plaster figure depicts Blaine naked holding on to dog w/Logan's head. Old paper notation on bottom of figure reads "Blaine & Logan Running For President/Me And Jack/1884." Tree stump beside figures likely intended to hold matches. Even age toning and light overall wear. Fine. A charmingly whimsical 1884 campaign novelty that is the first we've seen in our 55 years. Mike Nichols Collection.
