Item Description
7.5" tall by 8" from spout to handle. The main transfer is listed in David Armand's book Anglo-American Ceramics Part 1 as W. 29 on page 202. Shown is a central large portrait of President George Washington flanked by female allegorical figures of "Liberty" and "Justice" while a cherub hovers overhead holding a wreath made of stars w/the name "Washington." 15 states are named each surrounding a star. Design concludes w/Kentucky, which joined the union in 1792. Beneath the spout is a transfer "Success To America." surrounded by a wreath. Reverse panel depicts what appears to be General Washington resting his foot on a lion (an allegory for the British Empire) w/text in a surrounding banner reading "By Virtue And Valor, We Have Freed Our Country, Extended Our Commerce And Laid The Foundation Of A Great Empire."
