Item Description
3.5" w/cardboard back and horizontal bar pin. "Washington 28" union bug in field. Scattered light brown dots of toning contained mostly to the outer edges. Fine. Kennedy campaign staff had to wear this button to be admitted by Secret Service to the Hyannis Port compound on election day in 1960. A rainy election day caused the spotting that is present on all of the less than ten examples known to us. A top Kennedy rarity.

Additionally this lot includes an archive of ephemera related to the final days of the campaign and inauguration, all archived by "Miss Teresa Kraus." Included are: one page note outlining the fast paced experience of traveling during the campaign; "Senator John F. Kennedy Party" sheet w/rooms for staff at the "Knickerbocker Hotel/Chicago, Illinois"; "Democratic National Committee Accounting For Advances" (three pages); Press Release dates "Sept 29, 1960"; "Staff/Press Radio TV/Directory/Election Headquarters/November 8, 1960" booklet w/portrait of JFK on cover (vertical handling crease and faint moisture stain); two "Inaugural Activities" lists; Jan. 18- reception invitation "In Honor Of The Distinguished Ladies Attending The Inauguration"; Jan. 19- "Inaugural Committee" reception at the Sheraton-Park Hotel & "Inaugural Concert" invitation; Jan 20- official "Inaugural Committee" invite, "Inauguration Ceremonies Program," invite to "The Inaugural Ball" event at the "National Guard Armory," and invite w/portrait leaves of JFK/LBJ; Oct. 10, 1961 White House invitation w/original envelope. Unless noted all have handling wear and moderate use. VF to Exc. A fascinating archive that takes you into the heart of the whirling conclusion of the 1960 campaign.
