Item Description
22x24.5" cotton printed in brown ink w/black accents. Listed in Threads Of History as plate 210 on page 128. Mexican-American war vignettes include: "Buena Vista," "Monterey," "Palo Alto," and "Resaca de la Palma." Taylor textiles are among the rarest and most desirable early political campaign artifacts. We have encountered two examples of this design done in brown ink but this is the first we've seen w/added black ink making the key design elements more pronounced and bold. Tack mounted via two less than 1" dia. spots of adhesive at top right and left to acid free matte board. Scattered light brown spots of age toning and a less than 1" horizontal separation in the margin at extreme top right. One each vertical and horizontal folds that would likely press out. Fine. An attractive display textile for the illusive candidate that will frame beautifully.
