1.25" w/Merchants Portrait Co., London N.W. back paper. A Celtic-inspired design w/WSPU at center. Only minor wear in reflected light. NM. A choice example of this rarely offered variety. See next two lots for additional varieties. Issued by the militant British group founded by Emmeline Pankhurst. The group is noted for their direct action campaign and prison hunger strikes. They had a critical influence on American members Alice Paul and Lucy Burns who applied their experiences in Britain to the American suffrage movement.
