Item Description
Large format art on trimmed 12-3/8x18-5/8" artboard features pen and ink original art for cover to Metamorpho #7, published by DC Comics Aug. 1966. Art is by Sal Trapani (1927-1999) and has been inked by Charles Paris (1911-1994). Action-packed art depicts Metamorpho the Element Man emerging from erupting volcano, soaring toward villain's vehicle, the lower half of his body composed of liquid magma. There are several images of Metamorpho erupting from the volcano, giving nice implication of movement. Artboard has DC's classic "Go-Go Checks" at top and artboard has title stat paste-overs as well as cut out story blurb paste-over w/hand-lettered text at bottom right. Missing only issue number stat paste-over. Back has partial Comics Code Authority inkstamp as trimmed. Top margin of artboard has some even aging and there is some visible glue staining around text paste-over at lower right, but art remains clean and Exc. As Metamorpho's 1960s series only lasted 17 issues, original art is somewhat limited and rarely comes up for sale, especially cover art.
