Item Description
13/16" litho w/Chicago bug. Undated, but (unquestionably) for the 1933 anniversary, w/Marx's birth-death dates of "1818-1883" below the striking illustrated portrait. Also made, dated for 1933, was a 1" red tone celluloid with this same Marx image, but as a real photo button of Marx with the 50th anniversary specified. This litho version for unknown reason is equally as rare as the cello, and designed similarly to others in a small annual series of lithos. Issued by the early CPUSA to mark anniversary years of the Russian Revolution or important milestones of heroes such as Marx and Lenin. Seemingly in production, a scrape of red paint off right background and at bottom edge black paint was removed showing bare silver metal and making the last "3" indistinct. Exc. Rare.
