Item Description
14-7/8x19.5" artboard features fully realized mixed media original art for cover to video cassette release of the 1972 French-German-Italian-Belgian Gothic Horror/Drama directed by Ado Kyrou and starring Franco Nero. This is for the German, EuroVideo VHS release and features Gothic scene of chained, scantily clad woman cowering away from hooded monk, who approaches w/large knife. Looming, intense image of Nero appears over castle in bkg. Art is by Spanish artist Rafael López Espí, noted for his Spanish Marvel Comics covers. This artwork however, is even more detailed than his comic book work, w/much attention to detail. Artboard shows some wear, w/.5" and .75" tears (w/tape repairs on back) to center left margin, intruding into artwork. Lower right margin has "Terror - 7/33" inked margin notation. Right margin has a few small tears, but none intrude into art. Upper right corner of art has spot of tape staining. Back has sticker and inked notations w/black paper remnants at corners as once mounted. Fine overall, but could be matted and framed for VF display. Great original art for horror and art fans alike. Comes w/German video cassette in clamshell case featuring this art.
