Item Description
1.25" w/"Compliments Of C.D. Kenny Co." W&H back paper. Uncle Sam doffs his hat to TR depicted as the rising sun. Tiny hairline scratch in field at 6 and 12 o'clock seen only in reflected light and mentioned for strict accuracy. Exc. Perfect centering and saturated color make this example choice for display. Before he could seek the 1912 GOP nomination and prior to forming the Progressive party, TR had to return from his extended African Safari. Upon his arrival on June 18, 1910 in New York Harbor, he was greeted by NYC Mayor William Gaynor, Cornelius Vanderbilt, Henry Cabot Lodge and William Loeb and a massive parade was held in his honor, marking the return of the political lion who soon sprung back into foray. This outstanding design ranks among the most popular graphics of any button ever produced.
