Item Description
1.25" w/W&H back paper. Trivial scratch in field at 9 o'clock seen only in reflected light. Exc. Choice for display. An elusive pre-presidential rarity w/magnificent presence. New Jersey had gained a national reputation for political corruption and haven for trusts by 1910. The Democratic party chose an unconventional academic, then the President of Princeton, to nominate for the state's highest office. Wilson accepted the nomination stating "It Came To Me Unsought, Unanimously, And Without Pledges To Anybody About Anything." Running as a progressive anti-trust reformer he won and delivered on the promises gaining a national reputation that propelled him to the White House two years later.
