Item Description
5.5" long. Ribbon attached under 1.75" button w/J. H. Shaw Co Phila. back paper. Unlisted in Hake. Silver text on ribbon reads "Hughes Fairbanks And The Whole Republican Ticket 1916." Button features sepia toned real photo portrait and text "Republican Candidate 22nd Legist. Dist. Benj. M. Golder." Air marks occurring in manufacturing in reflected light. Minor tarnish to brass frame at 10 o'clock on brass frame encircling button. Otherwise only light overall handling wear. Exc. Unusual Hughes coattail material is especially elusive making this badge all the more impressive. Only the second we've seen in our 55 years, and this is likely that same badge. Despite the national ticket's defeat, Golder was victorious serving in the PA House of Representatives until 1924 when he ran for the 4th District US House seat and won, serving in the position until 1933.
