Item Description
1.5x2" closed. Cardstock w/shiny crimson exterior and silver metallic text. Kennedy served in the US House from 1947 until winning his Senate seat in 1952. Unlisted in Hake and Goldberg, though it does list 24 matchbooks including a similar design reading "John F. Kennedy $100 Dinner". We have never encountered this matchbook and couldn't find any other examples in commerce. Kennedy, a known Cuban cigar aficionado, did have "JFK" monogrammed matches while in the White House and given the popularity of smoking during the 1940s-1960s this seems a less than unusual novelty for a Congressman to hand out. Moderate overall wear most notably some tiny losses of crimson color along top edge fold lines and on reverse. Match heads have been removed w/all sticks remaining inside. VF. Rare.
