Item Description
14.5x19.5" matte w/10.5x15.5" opening. Print by Currier & Ives, 152 Nassau St., New York. Hand tinted illustration of McClellan, Lincoln, Lee, Davis, Beauregard and Grant. McClellan speaks to Lincoln "Uncle Abraham, Don't You Think You Had Better Call The Old Dog Off Now, I'm Afraid  He'll Hurt Those Other Dogs, If He Catches Hold Of Them." Lincoln responds, "Why A Little Mac That's The Same Pack Of Cures That Chased You Abroad Of The Gun Boat Two Years Ago, They Are Pretty Nearly Used Up Now And I Think It's Best To Give The Old Dog Full Swing To Go In And Finish Them!" In doghouse is Jeff Davis saying "You Ain't Got That Kennel Yet Old Fellow!" Grant, who is depicted as a bulldog on the tracks responds "I Am Bound To Take It." Age toning around perimeter of print w/lighter even age throughout. Scattered minor foxing and handling wear. Fine. These are rarely found w/hand tinting. The additional color adds depth and raises the overall appeal significantly.
