Item Description
1.75". No maker. Features portrait photos of four players in Tigers uniforms: Mickey Cochrane, Charlie Gehringer, Hank Greenberg and Schoolboy Rowe. Their last name is below the photo. Rim text on this version is just "Detroit Tigers." There is an equally rare version w/text at bottom of "1934 Champions." The 1934 Tigers won the American League pennant with a final record of 101-53 under National Baseball Hall of Fame manager/catcher Cochrane. In addition to Cochrane the offensive attack was led by a trio of future HOF'ers: Greenberg, Gehringer and Goose Goslin. The Tigers would go on to lose the 1934 World Series to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven tough games. Surface slighly uneven to the touch. Lt. surface wear and some tiny cello nicks at right center rim edge. Still glossy and w/deep, rich orange color. VF. The Paul Muchinsky Collection example sold in our June 2021 auciton for $3,629.
