Item Description
7.5x7.5x.75" deep box w/wonderfully illustrated lid label depicting great late 1800s baseball images including baseball player portrait, baseballs and period bats as well as game scene w/packed stands and gloveless fielders (it wasn't until the 1890s when glove use became the norm). J.H. Singer, c. 1880s. Box has some lt. edge/corner tip wear w/two corner splits to lid and one split to box bottom. Box has some masking tape repairs but remains nice for display and is Fine overall. Game play is determined by a die-cut cardboard spinner w/hole at center for holding in place w/included wooden dowel. Spinner is sectioned into six segments, each w/different play. Each also has penciled number on it. 7x7" gameboard features wonderful graphics, showing numerous period ballplayers. Underside of gameboard has significant penciling related to game w/tiny pin holes at regular intervals. Gameboard is Fine overall. Eight colored wooden pegs represent runners and comprise two teams on four players (batter and base runners). Scattered aging and lt. wear. VF overall. Early and historic 19th century baseball game.
