Item Description
One of few known examples in this 2.25" size as opposed to the much more commonly seen and smaller 1" button. Same image was used on both "Miracle Man" button varieties as well as one issued for "Hornsby Day".  St. Louis Button Co. back paper. He was dubbed "Miracle Man" in the fall of 1926 for leading the St. Louis Cardinals to their first World Championship in franchise history. Hornsby would finish his career with a .358 batting average along with 301 homers, 1,584 RBI's, 1,579 runs scored and 135 stolen bases. Hornsby would take home two National League MVP awards. He would gain election to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1942. Tiny trace of surface wear and some pinpoint spots, all only seen upon close inspection. Remains bright and glossy. VF.
