Item Description
4.25x7x2" deep box contains complete 3-piece tin litho toy set. c. 1961. By Marx/Line Mar. Box has right side pushed in with corner separation. Insert also has small tears. Fine. Set consists of a hand-held, spring-loaded activator and pair of tops each 3" long and 2" dia. Tops were designed to represent actual spacecraft used on America's first two-man space flights. One is marked "Freedom" which was manned by Shepard, the other is Liberty Bell which was manned by Grissom. Both flights took place in 1961. Both tops spin rapidly when used in conjunction with activator unit and produce a faint whistling sound. Set is Exc. Great design.
