13x13x23" tall box contains 21" high base and 9.5" long scout car. Hard plastic/vinyl. By Ideal 1960s. This box is the rare full color variety, usually found in rwb box. Box has graphic scenes of toy in operation on three panels plus detailed view of toy and all functions on back panel. Box has dust soiling, tape residue on top flaps, few creases. Box complete with all inserts. Still displays Fine/VF. Instruction sheet tanned with age. VF. Toy has many complex actions including the following: space scene at top of base revolves, firing button produces loud noise and flashing red light on the screen. This works well. Remote control scout car with firing missiles has plug to connect to main base. This does not fit very well so we could get car to move only a tiny bit. Could probably be adjusted to work. The space lock and hoist down does not work. Base is VF/Exc. Scout car dome has warped slightly. All parts of scout car present including rockets and mounting brackets, antenna and astronaut driver. VF. Sides of scout car have minor melt marks. VF. A nice example of this classic and complex space toy.
