Item Description
1-1/8" (28mm). The American Anti-Slavery Society briefly advertised these tokens in their publication, The Emancipator, at a cost of $1 for 100 but US Mint Director Robert Patterson attempted to suppress the sales after which they were sold through intermediaries at a cost of $0.62 per 100. Present example has smoothing to high points from light circulation w/text and details remaining strong. Fine. Uncommon.
