Item Description
14.25x17.25" mat contain cover only for Aug. 18, 1961 issue of Life magazine, featuring image of Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris during their historic home run race (which ended in Sept. 1961 when Mantle suffered an injury, Maris continuing hitting home runs, hitting the record-breaking 61st on Oct. 1, 1961). Mantle (1931-1995) has boldly signed by his image in blue felt tip pen, adding "No. 7" player number. Cover has been matted to obscure original mailing label area and cover shows scattered wear w/creases and small rub to Mantle's chin. Fine overall, but would make for nice framed display. Great vintage piece to have signed by The Mick, originating from the historic 1961 season. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
