Item Description
8.5x11" brad bound 126-page script for Tim Burton's 1989 Batman film. This is Sam Hamm's first draft for the Summer 1989 blockbuster that would go on to star Michael Keaton, Jack Nicholson and Kim Basinger. While elements that appeared in the finished film certainly carried over, there was one very notable aspect that didn't - the inclusion of the character Dick Grayson, aka Robin. This first draft script includes him and features lines of dialogue. Ultimately cut at Burton's insistence, Hamm admitted it was not easy to fit the character into the darker story and style he and Burton had imagined for the film. Title page has "Marchak-Wyckoff & Assoc., Inc" inkstamp and has Oct. 20, 1986 date. Left and bottom edges of script have inked "Batman" name. First three pages have some scattered aging/staining and pages show lt. handling throughout. Fine/VF. Charles Lippincott Collection.
