Item Description
A new era began with this card set by Gum, Inc. The 2.5x3-1/8" size was larger than virtually all of the tobacco and caramel cards of the early 20th Century. Photo quality and clarity was greatly improved from baseball card issues that preceded it. Of the 161 cards in the set, only the Ted Williams rookie card is more coveted. In fact, the DiMaggio card is considered by some to be his own rookie card as it represents his earliest "mainstream" issue. The example we are offering is the all caps player name back variety. The Yankee Clipper played his entire MLB career for the team, 1936-42 and 1946-51. A thirteen-time All-Star, three-time AL MVP and nine-time World Series champion.  DiMaggio was inducted into the National Baseball Hall Of Fame in 1955. This is one of his most cherished baseball card issues.
