Item Description
13.75x16" partially printed vellum document w/original paper seal. Dated Jan 16, 1786 and signed boldly at top left below seal "B. Franklin Presidt" in black quill pen ink. Franklin issues a land grant to "Thomas W Kean" for a "Certain Track Of Land Called Belleville" in Westmoreland County. Two each vertical and horizontal folds w/tiny hole at lower right along fold seam. Otherwise moderate handling wear and toning at lower right. Fine. Signature is unaffected by folds remaining bold. Franklin's position of Council President is analogous to the modern position of Governor. An impressive and rare document that will frame beautifully. Comes w/Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
