Item Description
11x14" section of quilt w/2.25x6" jugate ribbon sewn in. Crazy quilts were a popular trend during the late 19th and early 20th century of sewing various small pieces of fabric together to create a unique quilt. This particular quilt has political ribbon featuring the 1888 Prohibition candidates. The ribbon has some faint staining, most notably at the bottom right corner, as well as a horizontal pull in the middle in between the candidates affecting the background and text "New Jersey". Otherwise slight fading and moderate wear. Fine. An unusual display piece for the 1888 campaign that also highlights a popular leisure activity of the era.
