Item Description
3". Text reads "I Was There: Clinton-Gore Bus Tour Erie, PA, August 22, 1992." According to the Latrobe Bulletin, a crowd of about 5,000 people attended the rally at a Comfort Inn in Erie to hear Clinton, Gore, their wives, and U.S. Senate candidate Lynn Yeakel speak at the event. The bus arrived two hours late to the hotel, and as a result, it went on until late into the night, ending after 2 AM. But that didn't turn many away, as "some in the crowd climbed billboards and sat on ledges 25 feet above the pavement. Others climbed on top of cars and vans to get a glimpse of the candidates." And the sentiment at the rally was resoundingly clear and captured perfectly by a sign carried by one of his supporters in attendance: "Read My Lips, No More Bush-Quayle." This infrequently offered button has only trivial wear under magnification and is NM.
