Item Description
Pair of 10x12" animation sheets featuring pencil original art w/colored pencil accents from 1938 Silly Symphony featuring caricatures of many Hollywood celebrities of the day. Art shows Spencer Tracy as washtub sailor in Rub-A-Dub-Dub portion of short. One sheet features production drawing while other features two detailed character sketches of Tracy in pencil. Concept art is by Thornton "T." Hee (1911-1988), an animator, writer and director, who was brought in from Warner Brothers to design some of the characters. Art is signed at lower right. Drawing No. 16 w/large image area features Tracy reaching into the sea to retrieve  Freddie Bartholomew (who has gone overboard and is not seen). Sheets have lt. aging/handling but are clean w/Exc. art. Comes w/10x12.5" studio-used model sheet (an important part of the animation process), showing images of the characters in this sequence. Exc. Lot also includes vintage 8x10.25" glossy still from the original release, showing image of all three characters in scene. Some edge/corner tip wear but VF overall.
