Item Description
Lot of four. First is 5/8" dia. "Official Souvenir" button w/celluloid accent bow by W&H suspending 1.25" dia. brass medallion showing boxers Jack Dempsey and Tommy Gibbons in "Championship Dempsey- Gibbons - Oil City - Shelby Mont. -  July 4, 1923." Blank reverse. NM. Rare. Next are two similar 1-3/8" dia. brass medallions from 1924. These are titled "Jack Dempsey Luck Piece" and promote Universal Pictures' Fight And Win movie serials. On the first (upper right) the thumbs of the boxing gloves carry tiny text "Frank Surz" and on the back the quotes around "Fight And Win" are shaped like kites, plus back bottom edge names "Greenduck Co. Chi." Exc. The variety (lower left) has gloves w/o name, back quotes of standard shape and no maker name. VF. 1" dia. button by Bastian was issued c. 1940 and features image of the famed boxer above "Jack Dempseys Bar And Restaurant - Miami Beach" text. Rust spot on metal back and cello has long hairline horizontal crack below his name. Clean and glossy. VG. Paul Muchinsky Collection; first and last as book photo examples #66 and #91.
