Item Description
1.25" with back paper by Brunt. Front text "Celebrate At Petaluma July 1, 2, 3, 4, '16." The red rim was once just a bit darker in color as determined by looking at the side edge of the button but the color loss is very minimal and otherwise the condition is near flawless and with high gloss. Overall Exc. Fabulous image and the only example known to us. Summer 1916, with Europe already at war, and the Wilson/Hughes presidential campaign on the horizon, Preparedness  was a very popular button theme. The town leaders of "The Egg Capital Of The World" (see previous lot) heard the call and proudly put their patriotic bird on their Independence Day celebration button. This realized $635 in our July 2016 auction.
