Item Description
10x14.5" thick artboard has mixed media original art by prolific and renowned Spanish comics cover artist Rafael López Espí. Cover is for Sargento Furia (Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos) Vol. 2 #30, which reprints two Sgt. Fury stories from issue #116. Published in Spain c. 1976 Mundi. Artboard has been hand-painted from edge to edge w/art showing a similar composition that was based on art from half of the US issue cover #116 by Dick Ayers. Great underwater battle scene. Top of art has 4" strip in red for title. Lt. aging/handling wear. Art remains bright and clean. Displays VF. A wonderful example from the era when Espí's art dominated covers of Spanish comic books, featuring one of Marvel's popular characters and is unsigned by artist. Superb and dynamic cover art. Comes w/reading copy of the Spanish comic this cover art was created for.
