Item Description
Lot of seven aged 6.5x10" sheets of paper w/nicely illustrated mixed media original art incorporating Disney characters like Mickey Mouse (who is featured most prominently), Minnie Mouse, Goofy, and Pluto as well as Clarabelle Cow and Horace Horsecollar. Spain, 1930s. Four sheets have painted borders and four have inkstamps on backs w/text that reads/translates to "José Martí - Valencia - Painter, Decorator - Lampposts, Labels, Murals, Signs" and appears to reference a company of the era dedicated to making decorations, painting, etc. Sheets have even moderate aging and show edge/corner tip wear w/some scattered creases. A few scattered spots of staining; more moderate on sheet featuring Horace alongside Mickey and Minnie. VG overall, but very interesting and well done designs utilizing some of Disney most popular characters of the 1930s. We sold additional concept art by the company in our June 2022 auction for $331.
