Item Description
9.5x15x5.5" deep box illustrated on all sides contains nicely designed set, 1950s. The left end flap is a replacement which has full color photocopy applied to cardboard. The two inside flaps are also replacements. The right side flaps are original but have some cardboard reinforcements inside. The four main side panels all have some small degrees of restoration w/some reglued pieces and/or color touchups, not all are perfect color matches but most blend. Box has some additional long crease lines and other scattered wear. Overall Good but still certainly displayable w/toy. The mostly tin litho launching sight is 9x11.75x4" tall and comes w/separate tin sign which stands 10.5" tall. This sign attaches to the building at left and reads "Notice! Operator And Observers Stay Well Clear Of Spacecraft During Takeoffs And Landings." Also attached to this building is a crank. The "Space Satellite Launching Station" includes images of many people at windows as well as space crew members. The large tin platform base includes additional images of crew members, trucks and vehicles, spacecraft, etc. Comes w/large 10.5" dia. "Space Satellite" saucer which is soft plastic w/illustrated cardboard insert on interior of domed center. This includes illustration of two operators as well as machinery. This attaches to the launching unit and crank is then turned causing the spacecraft to rapidly spin and when crank is stopped suddenly, the spacecraft launches into the air. The spacecraft's center dome has st. warping due to age but nothing serious, extreme bottom rim edge has 1/8" nick. The tin litho base has scattered minor trace of wear but remains bright and glossy. Toy is well designed and VF.
