Item Description
2.5" nail attached with tiny thread to 2x3.5" card with ink inscription on back reading "A.S.M.E. 1890. Richmond Iron Works." Armor for the first iron clad was produced at the Tredegar Iron Works in Richmond, Va. 3/8" split in card top by nail head. Vertical crease continues from split to bottom. Nail has very light oxidation. Rare. Possibly unique.
