Item Description
2". Has Steiner Engraving & Badge Co. of St. Louis back paper. Text reads "Here Again/You Know Me" along w/classic cardinal on bat logo. Dates around this are "1926/1928/1930." The team won the NL pennant those years and went on to win the World Series in 1926. The 1930 St. Louis Cardinals won the National League pennant with a final record of 92-62 under manager Gabby Street. The Cards were led offensively by a trio of National Baseball Hall of Famers: Jim Bottomley, Chick Hafey and Frankie Frisch. The mound corps was led by HOF starters: Burleigh Grimes and Jesse Haines. St. Louis would go on to lose the 1930 World Series to the Philadelphia Athletics in six games. Button was exposed to moisture. Entire back paper noticeably stained but still complete and intact. Entire rim of button has a .25" dark stain. Main Cardinal image largely unaffected. Still retains a glossy appearance w/strong red color. The only other example known to us sold in our June 2021 auction (in Exc. condition but w/o back paper) for $1,888. The one we are offereing here is still VG and displayable. A rare and desirable Cardinals button. Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.
