Item Description
25-3/8x32.25" frame contains poster (trimmed on all sides) for the 1978 re-release of the classic 1977 sci-fi film by George Lucas. Poster features birthday cake w/the "Star Wars" logo and is surrounded by 11 of the first 12 Kenner Star Wars action figures (missing only the Jawa), which Lucas had to get permission from Kenner for their use, noted by small "'Star Wars' Action Figures Courtesy Of Kenner Products" text at bottom. Text at top reads "May The Force Be With You" w/text below birthday cake and figures reading "One Year Old Today." These "Birthday" posters were only issued to theaters that showed Star Wars for 365 consecutive days, making this an exceedingly desirable poster and far rarer than almost all other Star Wars movie posters, even those of the original 1977 release. Small "Star Wars Happy Birthday One Sheet" text at lower left corner has been removed when trimmed. Trimmed poster is in original frame as displayed at Lucasfilm. Comes w/copy of letter from Lucas on Lucasfilm Limited letterhead dated May 30, 1978. Letter was addressed to Kenner's Craig R. Stokely and thanks him for the "Thoughtful Remembrance On The First Anniversary Of Star Wars." Poster has some rippling as mounted to board, some lt. surface wear and slight fade. Fine overall. Highly desirable Star Wars poster. Comes with notarized Collectible Investment Brokerage (CIB) LOA. From the collection of Kenner Vice President of Marketing and Product Planning Craig R. Stokely.
