Item Description
9" tall doll made in Spain by Spanish dollmaker Ernesto Cahn, who made a wonderful line of Disney authorized dolls in the 1930s, exclusively for the European market. All are rare as production was low. Their only markings were string tags; doll offered here does not include tag but was made c. 1953-1954. Doll has high quality mohair body w/felt eyes, mouth and tip of trunk as well as hat and collar. Of note, Dumbo holds felt crow feather in his raised trunk. Doll has and wire inserts in ears for posing. Mohair shows some scattered wear and felt hat has faded w/age and has a few small insect holes. Fine overall. Rare and first we've offered in our 56 years. Comes w/Spanish Christmas/New Year 1953-1954 publication which features many toy ads, including great full page ad for Cahn, showing this very Dumbo doll. Magazine shows scattered aging/wear and is Fine overall.
