Item Description
5.75x15.5x10" tall painted jigsawed wood pull toy made in Spain exclusively for the Spanish market (no similar toys were made in any other countries) by José Monllor as noted by decal on front of base. 1930s. Toy depicts Practical Pig of Disney's Three Little Pigs (who has curled metal tail) holding a broom w/straw bristles. As toy is pulled along, he raises and lowers broom, smacking head of the Big Bad Wolf, whose head emerges and retreats from box bearing his portrait and Spanish text that translates to "Who's Afraid Of The Fierce Wolf?" Missing pull string. Moderate scattered paint wear w/flaking to top surface of base and edge of wooden wheels from use. VG/Fine overall. We have offered only one other example of this rare toy in our 56 years, which sold for $951 in our Feb. 2021 auction. A must-have for pull toys and Three Little Pigs collectors.
