Item Description
Each is 1.75" with no curl text, although in 1984 Marshall Levin, co-author of Buttons In Sets, identified the source as Personality Posters. These are very similar to the two previous sets by Sandyval, but they go way beyond movie stars and, in fact, numerous of these represent the only known 1960s button appearance of many of these celebrities. For example we think these are c. 1969-1970 as the Stokely Carmichael button is a detail from a poster known to exist in September, 1969. A few other photo buttons known as the only vintage or one of a very few vintage portrait buttons including in this set are : Brigitte Bardot,  Harry Belafonte, Jean-Paul Belmondo (from Breathless), Dali, Einstein, Peter Fonda, Allen Ginsburg, Timothy Leary, Adam Clayton Powell, Andy Warhol and two previously unknown to us in the last row of the photo: James Coburn and Eric Von Schmidt considered the Boston area's version of New York's Dave Van Ronk. Seven have tiny age traces, 30 are Exc. See description online for full list of names.
Rare as a set. First we've offered.
