Item Description
Pair of artboards, each measuring approx. 10.5x16" w/pen and ink original art for "Giant Double-Page Special," w/each page featuring spotlight on different German tank from World War II. Art is by Joe Kubert (1926-2012), noted for his work on DC war comics of the Silver and Bronze Ages. Art is from G.I. Combat #133, published by DC Comics in Jan. 1969 as part of that issue's "Battle Album," which hand-lettered text banner at top describes as being part of the "Library Of Information On Machines Of War - Past, Present And Future!" Art was published as pages 20 and 21, w/page 20 featuring illustration of Panzerkampwagen I (Sd. Kfz101) and page 21 showing Pz. KpFw. V 'Panther' (Sd. Kfz. 171) and each page has profile image of each respective tank along with hand-lettered "Technical Data" and brief history of each machine. Kubert has signed below image of "'Panzer Jager I'" tank on page 20. Top of each artboard has inked title, issue/page number and month of publication. Backs of each have Comics Code Authority inkstamps. Top margins of each page have replaced text strip that has been secured in place w/tape on back. Top right margin of first page and top left margin of second page have thin strips of aging as once taped. Each page has pair of hole punches at top/bottom margins, not affecting art, which remains clean and Exc.
