Item Description
11.5x16.75" artboard w/pen and ink original art for cover to Freedom Fighters #2, published by DC Comics in June 1976. Art is by Dick Giordano (1932-2010) and shows Freedom Fighters Uncle Sam, The Ray and Human Bomb rushing to the aid of Black Condor, Doll Man and Phantom Lady, who have been turned to into statues of solid silver by the villain Silver Ghost, who emits an arrays of rays from his hand. This effect was created by applying large area of screen accent over the art, which has resulted in some lt. scattered aging. Small spot on Doll Man's cape has this missing w/surface paper lift and another spot on his hand/wrist is out of place and bunched up. Top of art area has missing surface paper in 1.25" strip and does not include DC banner seen at this spot on published comic. Title is also not present. Inked title, issue number and month of publication at top right margin. Upper left margin has extensive editorial notations in blue pencil. Back has DC copyright inkstamp and three printer's inkstamps w/inked job information. Several pin holes across top margin, not affecting art. Fine overall.
