Item Description
Rare and desirable 1.25" w/curl naming Chicago button maker Parisian Novelty Co. This is a "Copyrighted" design as the tiny text on lower edge states. Four baseballs and two bats section off the photos (clockwise from top) of 1929 Chicago Cubs stars: Hack Wilson, Kiki Cuyler, Riggs Stephenson and Rogers Hornsby. The button includes their first name or nickname (in the same order) of "Hack, Kiki, Stevie, Rajah". The 1929 Cubs finished in first place in the NL w/a record of 98-54 under National Baseball Hall of Fame Manager Joe McCarthy. Leading the offense was a quartet of future Baseball Hall of Famers: Hornsby, Wilson, Cuyler and Gabby Hartnett. Chicago would go on to lose the World Series to the AL champion, Philadelphia Athletics in five games. Lt. surface wear seen under magnification but remains bright and glossy. Exc. The Paul Muchinsky Collection example sold in our Sept. 2020 auction for $1,998.
