Item Description
Large and impressive 30x40" quad poster issued in the UK for the original British release of the 1951 film starring George Reeves as Superman and Phyllis Coates as Lois Lane. Released in Britain under the alternate title of Superman And The Strange People, it is the first theatrical feature film based on the DC Comics character Superman (two live-action Superman movie serials starring Kirk Alyn had already been shown in cinemas), the film served as a trial run for the syndicated TV series Adventures Of Superman, for which it became the only two-part episode, entitled "The Unknown People." Poster was folded and has been professionally linen-mounted and double-matted under mylar sheet which could be easily removed if so desired. Poster has scattered restoration as mounted, mainly along fold lines and at fold crease intersections, but main images remain unaffected for the most part and poster displays Fine overall. Very rare poster w/few known examples, and this is the first we've offered in our 56 years.
