Item Description
7/8" w/ W&H back paper. Faint diagonal scratch only seen in reflected light on Underwood's forehead. Otherwise light surface wear. Extremely Fine. Underwood served in the House from 1897 until 1915 and in the Senate representing Alabama from 1915 until 1923. He sought the Democratic nomination in 1912, and later again in 1924. This particular pin is from his first bid in 1912. He was a strong opponent of the KKK during the 1920s, when the organization was at its peak, infiltrating both major parties and playing a role in both national conventions in 1924.
